In the quiet hours of a strawberry moon, summer solstice night Frank Ocean took to Tumblr to address homophobia and transphobia as it’s related to recent events and his own life. In the post, Frank references the recent Orlando nightclub shooting on June 12 that left 49 dead and 53 injured, and also alludes to the systematic issues at hand with religion, tolerance, and interpretations of scripture. Frank also mentions his rarely spoken about absent father and recalls “the last afternoon I saw my father” as one leaving a lasting impression of his father’s own transphobia. It’s a dreary, thick reflection on our current world that only Frank could write; well worth the read.
