Portland’s Myke Bogan, Neill Von Tally, & The Last Artful, Dodgr Unite on “Rare Treat”

Under Portland’s EYRST label, Myke Bogan, Neill Von Tally, The Last Artful, Dodgr have crafted an airy, eerie, and dreamy soundscape on their collaborative EP, Rare Treat.

Spanning 4 tracks, Rare Treat sounds exactly like its name suggests. The melodies are light and playful over vinyl cracks and sparse percussion. The 3 Portlandians sound the most cohesive on standout track “Mornin Dew,’ where Von Tally’s bouncy production builds off of Bogan’s flows and Dodgr’s irresistible hook.

While the trio have created an EP that is clearly hip hop, they also stick to Portland’s code of conduct in that they still keep it weird. As the latest release from EYRST, a label focussed on socially conscious art, Rare Treat serves as yet another promising prospect from Portland’s rap scene.
