New York duo Diet Cig are set to bring their limitless supply of pop-punk energy to the Subterranean stage in Chicago on June 4.
Guitarist and vocalist Alex Luciano and drummer Noah Bowman released their debut album this April. The critically-acclaimed LP, Swear I’m Good At This, combines fuzzy punk riffs with pop melodies that leave an imprint long after the song ends. Diet Cig write relatable and lighthearted lyrics that bring out the IDGAF side in all of us. When the opening track “Sixteen” opens with an anecdote about Luciano sleeping with a boy with the same first name as her, you can’t help but smile at her brutal honesty. Memorable lines that feel like inside jokes combined with upbeat rhythms stand as a reminder to not take life’s unknowns so seriously.
Their debut record and their previous Over Easy EP make it clear that Luciano and Bowman are out to have a good time; now, they’re taking those same fun-infused vibes on tour with them.
Diet Cig takes the stage at Subterranean in Chicago on June 4. Tickets available here.
