Dial Up, a music/art collective founded in the Chicago area, just dropped their latest music video in anticipation of a forthcoming compilation album this month. It’s hard to exactly discern what Dial Up is, starting as a DJ group, the collective has expanded over the last few years into doing podcasts, magazines and music videos. At its core, it’s simply a group of talented people and those talents are front and center on the group’s newest offering, “Promo.” Members Dave Prime and Archie Blocka quickly hook a listener in with dynamic, off-kilter flows that mesh together seamlessly. The beat produced by Prime relies on raw, woofer-rattling percussion as its driving force, evoking a booming effect that feels like a Cool Kids track.
Equally impressive is the song that plays during the extended credits of the music video. Titled “180” and sung by Dial Up artist Bria, the soulful, classic RnB melodies make for a soothing follow-up to the more chaotic first half of the video. Peep the visual above and stay tuned for more from the eclectic Dial Up crew. They’ve been dropping a whole lot of heat lately so be sure to get familiar with their YouTube page here.
