Musa Reems Remembers Where He Came From on “44 4’s”

“I’m only 20 but got knowledge like I’m 45,” Chicago artist Musa Reems raps on his latest offering, “44 4’s.” Calling out those with shallow intentions, Musa seeks to prove that his music comes from a genuine place and dedicates his work to the people who have always supported him. Underneath his lyrical wisdom is a retro, soul-sampling beat produced by Curbside Jones; the instrumental adds a feeling of warm nostalgia to back-up Musa’s sharp wordplay. The cherry on top of this track is that fact that Musa incorporates 44 mentions of the word “for” in his verses. On “44 4’s,” the Chicago emcee makes rapping seem effortless, but a closer listen reveals just how much work he’s willing to put in to his craft.
