After dropping her debut EP, “Divine Love”, in 2016, soulful songwriter and poet Tasha has been busy crafting her full-length project and sharing her talent throughout Chicago’s vibrant poetry scene. Now, Tasha’s has given the first glimpse at what she’s been working on with “Kind Of Love”, the first single from her forthcoming album, “Alone At Last”.
Tasha makes her hiatus from music well worth the wait on this track, delivering a fleshed-out ode to new love, along with the excitement and loss for words that comes with it. The track shimmers with Tasha’s swelling guitar riffs, driven by subtle percussion that snaps in a doo-woppy daydream. Her vocals hover with delicate strength the whole time, blooming in layered harmonies as the song progresses. This balance of vulnerability with self-assuredness resonates in her songwriting, as Tasha lets her feelings candidly drift out. She admits her own uncertainty, refraining, “I don’t even know if I’m old enough to say these words”, while she still can’t help keep falling deeper for someone.
With “Kind of Love”, Tasha gives listeners a blissful break from bullshit, letting us dream for a moment in some alternate reality. An excerpt on Tasha’s website describes her forthcoming record as a collection of “songs about the place that one might go when they finally need to be away”. If that means more of the escape that “Kind of Love” offers, this album can’t come soon enough.
